There has been a training program available for a few years now that is known as P90X. It makes bold claims about being the most effective workout plan out there that anybody can use to get in great shape. Are these claims substantiated or is this just another one of those workout plans that doesn’t focus on the things 7.62×39 bulk ammo that do work? In this review, we look at the P90X workouts and whether they are effective at burning fat.
Diet right or fail
Let’s get one thing out of the way. Diet is without a doubt the most important part of burning fat. There is no amount of exercise that can compensate for eating twice as many calories as your body needs. If you don’t adapt your diet to eat healthy foods in the right quantities, you will not burn any fat. The P90X system is actually one of the rare fitness programs to take this into account. There is an entire guide written specifically to explain what you should and should not eat if you want to get optimal results.
The workouts are nothing more than the catalyst that tells your body to start building muscle and burning fat. Getting in shape is kind of like a hunting rifle or a hand gun. If the workouts are the trigger that allows the gun to fire, proper nutrition is the ammo. You can pull the trigger as much as you want but if there are no bullets in the magazine, the gun will never fire. In other words, you can work out all you want, if you don’t eat properly, you will not see good results.
So how do the workouts measure up? A good thing about them is that they do not require any complicated machines or tools. Most of the exercises are performed with your bodyweight and a few sets of dumbbells. But they are very intense and if this is your first foray into physical training, you might feel quite overwhelmed. If you are serious about getting in shape though, you will have to put in the necessary work, regardless of how intimidated you might be. Tony Horton, the trainer appearing in the videos, is brutally honest about this. In fact, P90X demands that you put in 6 days of training a week for around one hour a day.
The workouts can be very hard but they do deliver on their promises. They are also designed to become harder and harder as you progress. This keeps your muscles challenged so that they are constantly adapting and catching up. This makes sure that you never hit a plateau where your progress comes to a halt. This is a strong point of the P90X program; if you follow it to the letter (exercise and diet) you see results which in turn helps you stay motivated.
On top of burning fat, following the P90X program will also help you build muscle and gain flexibility, once again provided you eat the right way. If applied correctly and with a sound diet, there is no doubt that this training protocol will get you results. The down side is that it doesn’t do much to ease beginners into the workouts. This program might seem to be targeted for everyone but in reality, if you are just starting out, you definitely want to follow an easier program for a couple months before coming back to P90X.
